PAST EVENTS & INITIATIVES
October 2023
Life Strides Foundation was created after the founder was inspired by a viewing of the 26.2 TO LIFE documentary, with the intention of funding multiple juvenile facilities to have sports program available to youth.
January 2024
Hosted Markelle Taylor, a featured runner in the documentary, to share his story with a detention center in Colorado Springs - Markelle shared about the power of reform through sport. While in town, he also completed a speaking event at a local running store and hosted a group run.
June 2024
Markelle Taylor returned to Colorado to speak at two youth facilities (to approx. 100 youth) and ran with them at practice. Markelle also participated in a local race.
Life Strides Foundation organized a screening of 26.2 to Life followed by a Q&A panel focusing on the importance of resources in our community and the current barriers to those who have been released and are reintegrating into their local community and workforce. The panel included Markelle Taylor, Melissa Stapanowich, and former senator, Pete Lee.
September 2024
Launched Community Strides: a running program for youth facing barriers. The running group meets once per week and regularly has coaches and volunteers available.
